Strawberry Has No Place in Chai

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to meet the blogger behind Vegan Grub at Juliano's Raw for shakes. Since I'd already had their chocolate shake twice, I thought I'd break out of my shell and have something different. It didn't take much contemplation to decide on the Chai smoothie with agave in lieu of honey (from their menu: fruit with cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and cardamom). Now, I love chai, but this smoothie tasted absolutely nothing like chai. It tasted like a strawberry shake and I thought it was satisfactory, but nothing special. The chocolate shake, one the other hand, is spectacular! Oh, well, I guess we all have to go out on a limb and try something new every once in a while, right?

Vegyogini, you sure are making me hungry for a vegan milkshake! Too bad the strawberry one wasn't as good as the chocolate... Poo.

Aw, that's a shame, it sounds like it should be such an awesome combo! I bet you could reinvent it at home and make something amazing though.

Too bad about the flavors not complementing each other - boo!! Ah well, at least you tried something new :0)

Would you mind providing your email address instead, in order to receive mine? I would greatly appreciate it (please leave a comment on my blog so that I catch the email address in time).

I wonder if they accidentally made you a strawberry shake? It really looked nothing like what chai should look like.

But....the chocolate was awesome.

Next time you are in my neck of the woods we'll have to meet up again for a raw shake :)

Hey there! You asked for the cucumber dressing recipe on my blog. I'll gladly share it, but the book's at my house and I'm at work right now. I'll try to remember to post something on your comments about it tonight. I can't remember the proportions of everything off-hand. It's a really chunky dressing because the nuts don't get totally smooth in my food processor (although I may just have a crappy processor). But it's tasty.

i have been meaning to go and try that chocolate shake. you make it sound so delicious. sorry they didn't make you something good this time. i am not a huge strawberry fan, so i would have been majorly disappointed.

This is why I stubbornly refuse to try new things in restaurants once I find one thing I love. I have terrible "restaurant luck". The Chai looks good anyway!

chai and strawberry...yes, I think you are right. No true union. Sorry to hear about the disappointment.

When I am at a vegan restaurant, I tend to get really stressed because I want to order something totally fantastic, and worry about the disappointment factor.....

But at least you got to hang out with a fellow blogger!
