My Favorite Smoothie

I've written before of my allergies and how I treat them with Chickpea Noodle Soup from Veganomicon.

My other home remedy is the smoothie pictured above. According to an article I read earlier in the year (sorry, I don't have the link): "The supplement bromelain - a papaya and pineapple-based enzyme - helps reduce histamine release, the body's natural allergic response." This smoothie is 8 ounces of fat-free soy milk blended with roughly 8 ounces of frozen pineapple chunks until creamy. It's refreshing, bromelain-packed, and ALWAYS consumed from my Angels lenticular cup!

Well, you learn something every day! I did not know that but it's a great tip! It's always nice to find natural ways to get rid of allergies. Plus it sounds delicious!

Bromelain is also great for inflammation and swelling. I took bromelain supplements while healing from surgery and it seemed to really help with reducing swelling during recovery. Plus is was a good excuse to eat lots of pineapple!

I've never heard of bromelain - thanks for the tip! I also have yet to make that chickpea soup...what's up with that?
