Happy Herbivore Chocolate Chip Cookies

Remember when my camera grew legs and chucked the deuce? Well, my fabulous mom bought me another one exactly like the first (I promise I'll try to figure out how to turn off the flash). Murphy's Law dictates that I should now find the original camera, but I have my doubts. While we're waiting to see if that happens, here's a photo of Happy Herbivore's chocolate chip cookies (at the risk of sounding like a broken record, this is a test recipe and I'm not at liberty to share).

Ugh those cookies look GROSSSSS!

Hahaha, I'm totally kidding! They look so amazing, I'm just jealous because I can't try any until the cookbook comes out! And thanks for the recommendation about the Pirates bean soup/bread bowl in Disneyland. I had that the last time I went to Disneyland, as a brand-new vegetarian, so it's good to know that it is vegan as well! Do you know of any other "safe" places to eat in the park? I might be stopping up on mini soymilks and Larabars for my purse, though... I'll be in Cali on Thursday! :)

Oooh I'm really excited about the gumbo now! And I've read all the archives on the To Live & Eat in L.A. blog for L.A. food ideas, but the sheer volume of vegan restaurants is overwhelming... Do you have recommendations for absolute must-eats? I think you've blogged about good vegan ice cream before. Our trip is pretty unstructured right now, but I'm traveling with my parents and could let you know how our plans evolve. Maybe we could meet for lunch or ice cream or something! (Except the blog is a secret from my parents...I wonder what I'd tell them about how I "knew" you, haha.) :)

I'm glad to hear that the Native Foods cookbook is going to be worth my time! Yay! I really wish we could have met... It would also be nice to spend time with someone willing to eat at a vegan restaurant for every single meal. It's tough getting my family there, though... I really wanted to go to Real Food Daily too but couldn't bring myself to requesting to go there after seeing their prices -- my mom would have died after seeing how expensive it was! (She's the kind that goes for the 99 cent menu at all the fast food places...) I didn't get to go to Follow Your Heart either, but only heard great things about their reuben. I would have died for a bite of one! I guess I'll need to ditch the fam if I want a full vegan dining experience on my trips...
