VeganMoFo: An Apple a Day

Last night was easily one of the very best nights of my life. Being that it lasted until 4:00 a.m., today's VeganMoFo is a short dedication to apples. I love apples and miss them desperately during the summer when those that we have available are from Chile and New Zealand (too far for an apple to travel, in my opinion). So, when apples from the U.S. return to my markets, I buy as many as my heart desires. My favorite varieties are Fuji and Granny Smith because both tend to be perfectly crisp. However, I ventured out of my shell recently and bought Cameo (above) and Honeycrisp apples. I instantly added both to my favorites list, as they are sweet and crisp, slightly resembling the Fuji in flavor, but having their own flair.

I love apples too! I like the cameo and honeycrisp, and my other faves are jazz and pink lady.

I just had a honeycrisp apple today. It was delightful! Very crisp and flavorful. It almost tasted like it had apple juice injected into it or something, it was just so apple-y!
